Juliet Immortal

Title : Juliet Immortal
Author : Stacey Jay
Rating : 4 Stars

The most tragic love story in history . . .

Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn't anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she's fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she's forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love.

"These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume."
—Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Everyone must have heard or read Romeo and Juliet by the ever-so-poetic William Shakespeare. Especially the heroic nor suicidal part of it. Because that marks the heart and mind of some romantic and young people.

Many have made a retelling of this play, creating a new and unique heroic parts wherein Romeo and Juliet can still overcome the plague of both houses. But then, here comes Stacey Jay that made an eye-catching and mind-blowing synopsis and cover! She created another world, a totally new world for Romeo and Juliet.

Mercenaries and Ambassadors.

A fresh twisted love story that readers will get new perspective of Juliet which is an Ambassador, her sensual love and the betrayal of his husband, Romeo, a Mercenary. As I was reading the perspective of Juliet, the young lady falling in love with a naughty and romantic man, it all seems typical but then at the middle of it I got to know more about Juliet and the sufferings she have felt on coming back again and again just to stop Romeo and his dark movements. Juliet's role is to lead soul mates to each other and live a happy and romantic life, a life that she wished she had if only Romeo didn't deceived her. Romeo, has this one of a kind technique to allure ladies with his charm that leads them to another part.

The opposite world of Mercenaries and Ambassadors are very, entirely, superbly astonishing!

I wasn't totally expecting that Juliet could fall in another man. Because when I've read Shakespeare's work and the another retelling of this, it clearly describes that Juliet always had that never-ending and devotional love to Romeo. So as i was reading it, I've always have this questions on my mind if Juliet is just having a confused feeling of her anguish to Romeo and his unexpected feelings to Ben. Which is Benvolio. It totally have an unexpected twist!

It's also a hurtful story, especially every time Juliet comes to realize that her feeling were being tricked. Her young feelings were destroyed that makes her strong and somehow vulnerable.

Romeo, on the other hand, I never expected that underneath those romantic and sensual gestures towards Juliet, he could be wicked. Which definitely makes it definitely unique! It's a new Romeo guys! A gorgeously bad guy! Isn't that great?!?!
