It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

"When you have so little to left to lose, even the tiniest lost feels like a body blow"
 - Tarver

I’d like to give a super big virtual hug for NetGalley and Disney-Hyperion for accepting my request for and e-galley of this title. The title is already ravishing I admit, just look at that dress and it will totally blow someones head off. Then the title itself, its already entrancing. Any reader will definitely be hypnotized to have it actually. Because the cover and the title fits together. And I’m telling you that the story is even more ravishing than the cover itself. It will totally blast your inner thoughts within another world.

These Broken Stars conveys the idea of an intergalactic technology of the world. It’s universally portrays the idea of hyperspace. For me, it is totally mind-blowing since I have no general idea of the topic about space. I am only aware of a vague ideas within it. But the idea of it mainly keeps me wanting for more. I craved with the informations to know about it. It is one of the reason I loved this book, I as a reader, not only enjoys the company of words but also the hunger for new ideas.

I am deeply absorbed with the character of Tarver, his thoughts around the people and the world is so electrifying. The way he sees everyone , his observation from them stimulates my mind to imagine the inside of Icarus. All of it seems very exquisite. Well not just that, but from the start his feelings towards Lilac is alluring. It feels like I already felt a devotion of man to a woman. I swear. Though he is just a Major included on the ship and there are higher ranks after him, he never left all of that to outwit them. I loved that part of him.

Lilac seems so fragile from the start. It feels like a flower that should never be touched or it will wither instantly. But as I’ve read more with her thoughts I suddenly realized how strong and reserved the lady is. She is keenly aware of the things that happens around her. Another thing, Lilac is beauty and brains. There is nothing more that I want than a character exactly like her.

As the Icarus fall on a strange planet, all hopes are gone from the two of them. The tragedy, loss, pain, and suffer engulfs them. It’s very mysterious on an isolated planet that is surrounded with nerve-cracking creatures and peculiar voices. It’s very mesmerizing to see within the course of the story how Lilac and Tarver keeps on fighting to survive and for their feelings as well. Their expedition is so entertaining. Because I love the two of them exchange their ideas of space, it gives more information to know more about it.

Sacrifices were made and it devastate every little piece of me. I swear th at once you’ve read that part, THAT particular part, (I don’t want to spoil any of it, sorry) you’ll definitely scream like “WHYYYY???!!!??”. The revelations upon the strange planet is definitely shocking. Because throughout the story, it was unpredictable how the Icarus and a strange planet connects all of it from the start. And this is what I mainly loved on the story, the idea that made me feel like I need to know about the truth.

Entirely, These Broken Stars is such a blast. It’s one of a promising trilogy that I will keep on wanting for more. It is not just about a lady and a man suddenly falling in love in a stranded planet, its all about surviving all of it in the midst of the end. It feels like reaching a finish a line to escape the strange voices but at the same time it entirely serves all the truth within it. Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner absolutely nailed the idea of creating another genre for young adult readers. Step aside dystopia, here comes the hyperspace.
