Seventeen-year-old Twylla lives in the castle. But although she’s engaged to the prince, Twylla isn’t exactly a member of the court.

She’s the executioner.

As the Goddess embodied, Twylla instantly kills anyone she touches. Each month she’s taken to the prison and forced to lay her hands on those accused of treason. No one will ever love a girl with murder in her veins. Even the prince, whose royal blood supposedly makes him immune to Twylla’s fatal touch, avoids her company.

But then a new guard arrives, a boy whose easy smile belies his deadly swordsmanship. And unlike the others, he’s able to look past Twylla’s executioner robes and see the girl, not the Goddess. Yet Twylla’s been promised to the prince, and knows what happens to people who cross the queen.

However, a treasonous secret is the least of Twylla’s problems. The queen has a plan to destroy her enemies, a plan that requires a stomach-churning, unthinkable sacrifice. Will Twylla do what it takes to protect her kingdom? Or will she abandon her duty in favor of a doomed love?

Let  me just say that first thing first, I am attracted to the cover. Seriously attracted with the mixture of blood and water of a girl being caged inside it. I mean who wouldn't be so curious from the beginning if someone would ever see the cover. But the pages of the book definitely justified the cover. The author was able to execute firmly the betrayal and romance to the characters. There is nothing more ravishing than seeing the characters being dwelled up with the lies and the awakening part and the way they fight for each other.

The beginning of the book welcomed me to the high fantasy themed of the Gods and Goddesses who were claimed to have created all of what the people have from their lives. Up until from the way they lived, people hold on to a belief and devotion for the Gods and Goddesses and the equal punishments for all the sins someone ever committed. Believe me, I know this seems like a normal plot of the story but to be honest, the author was able to play and portray the inquisitiveness as well was their innuendo. Seeing how people were all blinded and being followed with a superstition is another fact to make me feel so curious to reach the end of the book.

Inside this are the characters who were manipulated by the Queen. Twylla, who was led to believe as an exceptional and blessed by the Gods and Goddesses to bring justice and kill people. She was nothing but a puppet to her. Just another pawn on the Queen's life. That is why I am surprised how she was able to shift the gears and swiftly moves towards the betrayal and seeking out for the Queen's true intentions. One thing that I noticed was how a bit fragile she was when she discovered the truth, but when she slowly regained to shut down all the muteness of her heart, the author created a fantastic rebel.

Lief and Merek who have their own intentions and instinct to fight for the Queen in their own hands, own ways. The solidity of the emotions made these characters break-out some of my expectations of the book. They exceeded, to be honest. Melinda Salisbury, created an unpredictable plot for these wicked guys and I am finding hard to choose on what side should I place myself in. Both are different especially with the way they show affection to Twylla. One is a stubborn guy while the next is such a humble and an affectionate one from the start. A soldier and a prince battling for the lady they are willing to risk their life and willing escape the life they once had, who wouldn't fall in love with this?!?!?!

The Sin Eater's Daughter relinquished the beauty of undertaking the betrayal up until the end. The clarity of the place and the beliefs were highly elegant yet direct. Melinda Salibury created a set of characters with an unpredictable moves to set in. I can't wait to read how the next book will come through!
