Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

My life would be allegiance instead of love, fealty instead of friendship. I would weigh each decision, consider every action, trust no one. It would be life observed from a distance
- Alina
Siege and Storm is one of the sequel that I anticipate after I read the first book.  Shadow and Bone is one hell of a book. Seriously. You might wanted to stumble and fall with the storyline and feel the mind-blowing places and monsters. And the map. There is nothing more fascincating than seeing a map through the book.
The sequel highly engaged me from the start. Mal and Alina already gave me something that I already clinged to them from the start. Its their trust on one another. I loved on how the words and sentences entangled with the way they feel with each other. You might have been imagining things, like seeing these two characters beyond the book while reading it. It was sort of magical for me. Well it do already started to be magical for me from the first book. But the thing is, the magic that i’ve felt stayed the same in which i am deepy thankful. *virtual tackle and hug on Leigh Bardugo*.
One thing that I never expected is that Leigh Bardugo opened up my heart to another fictional character. (Oh, you little you. hihihi) I am in fact was in love with the Darkling on Shadow and Bone, but because of some unexpected wits and not to spoil you, but his looks is like oh-my-God-I-want-to-marry-you-right-now and me-you-BED. I know I am a bit overreacting at this point, but I might as well tell you this guy. It’s none other than NIKOLAI LANTSOV.(Marry me, seriously)
I loved how Nikolai or Sturmhond holds an infinite fire within his heart to strive form his own sake. Not with the help of his family. I loved how he analytically planned their expedition to escape from the Darkling. I loved how he always take chances even though he still might not now the outcome of it. I loved how he can be so honest to the people yet hides the most soft and caring side of him above it all. Thats the thing that I admire with Leigh Bardugo, she can create another character that will suddenly lights up your heart that’ll make you think and feel connected with the character. *wipes away tears*
Another strong points from Siege and Storm, its the myth from the Saints/Sankta. All the myths suddenly take form upon their hands. The reality that spiced up on their lives. Not too mention the confusion that blazed up on Mal and Alina. I was deeply sad at that point. I felt Alina’s aching heart to be with Mal and at the same time, the hatred that she felt with the Darkling.
Last, the new Alina that I ever read on this sequel. The courage and strength that emblazoned her to lead the Second Army. I felt her on being overwhelmed and confusion to find the Firebird and defeat the Darkling. It’s all coming up on Alina that she felt almost drowned from everything. Not too mention the Darkling appearing in and out in her life. But above it all Alina never let all of it to fail on her plans. I admire the new Alina.
Overall, Siege and Storm brings a whole lot of adventure from the mysteries of Ravka until the revelations the enveloped the characters. It’s a new breath of bravery. Everything fires up within every chapter.
"Princes bleed just like other men."
