Synopsis :

Two weeks.

That’s how long it took for Avery West’s ordinary life to change forever: In two weeks, she discovered she was heiress to a powerful secret society known as the Circle, learned her mother was taken hostage by the Circle’s enemies, and fell for a boy she’s not allowed to love, just as she found out another was her unwelcome destiny.

Now, Avery crosses oceans in private jets to hunt for clues that will uncover the truth about the Circle, setting her mom and herself free before it’s too late. By her side are both the boys: Jack—steady, loyal, and determined to help her even at the expense of his own duty—and Stellan, whose connection to Avery grows stronger by the day despite her best intentions, making her question what she believes at every turn.

But at the end of a desperate hunt from the islands of Greece to the red carpet at Cannes comes a discovery that not only changes everything, but could bring the whole world to its knees. And now Avery is forced to face the truth: in the world of the Circle, no one is what they seem.

But maybe alone wasn't the worst thing. Maybe what I needed right now is to trust myself.

If you haven't read Conspiracy of Us, check out my review here.

If you have read the Conspiracy of Us, you'll know how the purple eyed girl became the center of attention. The two societies the Order and Circle are battling in politics and both are in deep hunger to rule. Most importantly, a huge amount of Napoleon the Great's mystery is the center of this! In this sequel, Avery was all welcomed with the Saxon family, the family she never knew existed. She made up all the decision to trust her father to help her on saving her mom. I can see how Avery's mind was almost smashed down given that time is ticking before they kill her mom. She needs what she can do best to her. This is when Jack supported all her decisions and keep her sanity composed. I loved seeing Jack beside Avery and keeping her head steady through all of it.

If you've read a lot of betrayal kind of books, you will feel something is quite eery on Avery's father. I can already feel there is wrong with the things getting on so well and there's nothing too much to pay. When you know you have in your hands the sole person who can change the world, manipulation is the real game. Until the killing spree started. There are certain people who Avery meets are killed when she leaves their country or killed in front of her. Apart from that, Avery's trust on anyone is slowly falling. She became unable to think twice of anything because anyone might get killed again and again.

When Stellan, Elodie and Collette entered to them, believe me it adds up the intensity of the story. All five of them are all brainstorming to unlock the bracelet and see how it will change everything. They went to Paris, India, Cannes and even Japan, it is all insanely wonderful and addicting. The details of the country, capital, busy streets and cultures are exceptionally brilliant. This is what I always loved in Maggie Hall, from the first book up to the sequel she writes in a detailed and melodic way. Like she describes you how exquisite and simple the corners of a certain place.

Another factor that totally spiced up this book is the Jack X Avery X Stellan team. This is one of the book that I am finding myself hard on what ship should I be into. On the first book, I am totally on Team Jack and in this sequel, I felt my devotion for the steaming hot Stellan. Believe me this men are one of the most difficult, mysterious and hypnotizing kind. Jack was always behind Avery to support and embrace all of her fears. On the other hand, Stellan is the kind of guy who tells to Avery the reality that'll wake her up. Both of them have the same agenda, to protect Avery, but they come different on their approach.

Aside from that, the most insane revelation to unlock the secret is intriguing. After all the clues that they've found, the truth that bares them the most is destructible. All this time, I was expecting the union to bring out peace with the two socities, but I was wrong. And I loved this story manipulated me! Conspiracy of Us brought out the romance, betrayal, and fierceness of the characters. This series induced me to know more about Napoleon the Great and Diadochi even more. You will feel like you are part of solving on unlocking a secret. Map of Fates is a fun, addictive and steamy hot book to read.
