"You have to kill him."
Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing
except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of
instructions she finds taped inside the drain.
Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.
Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.
All Our Yesterdays is a wrenching, brilliantly plotted story of fierce love, unthinkable sacrifice, and the infinite implications of our every choice.

"I've been scared of so much stupid crap in my life. Making a bad grade or not fitting in. God, I was scared of you. And it was all such a waste. None of it matters a damn now that the real scary shit is here" - James
I wanted to cry. All the sacrifices that they did was clearly astounding. It's very rare to read a book about time-travel that has the ability to turn my feelings upwards and downwards. I was in love with it. Even typing my thoughts in here, it's really hard for me. How can I clearly explain my love for this book when all I wanted is to cry? *sobs*
Okay, I'll focus. Here it goes.
Encountering two perpectives is one of the reason I was engaged into this book from the very beginning. One moment I was in the cell with Em then after that, my mind will shift from the home of Marina together with her friends. It feels like my mind was gradually adjusting with the two characters but as I proceed on reading it, I felt connected instantly from them. I already felt that I was one of the characters that must pick up and solve the pieces upon the puzzle of their twisted lives.
I was astonished with Em's bravery and wits. I came to realize how hard it feels to be imprisoned in a cell because of a dear friend. It hurts inside and out once you read her thoughts about world. Her mind is full of grief, anger, hate and possibilities. It's all mixed up but still I admire how much she endured all of it.
Finn is one of the characters that I looked upon to from the start. His responsibility and compassion for his friends is so great. The love that he shows may not be romantically expressed all at once but as I keep on reading Finn's voice, wow, this guy definitely has a lot to say that makes my knees weak(because of too much giggling, you see).
James is one of the brightest yet wildest guy I'll remember. He's the bomb on all of it. I don't mean it in a bad way within the course of the story because his emotions suddenly transgress from good into bad. That's the most astonishing part of James. He is aware on every moves, path, and words that he will say or do, yet he's sometimes naive on the consequences.
The characters are encircled with innocence yet they've became strong, fierce and responsible in all of their moves which clearly made me feel more human. Yeah, a human. A human that will keep on struggling to be the best as it can be.
All Our Yesterdays is a novel you'll definitely love to possess. Time-travelling has never been so painful, its surrounded with bravery, love, and responsibility which will grip you until the very end.
