White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1)

One kiss could be the last

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

White Hot Kiss is the first book that I've read from this author. My book blogger friends keeps on telling me or rather fangirling about how delicious her books was. I didn't mean in it as a food of course, but rather the way she writes. I suddenly realized that its full of surprises from the start. It has an element of perplexing pleasure every time I was reading it. As soon as I started on the first chapter, I can't help myself to think and explore how all the characters will lead into the end.

The idea of angels, devils, nephilims, and gargoyles are very usual at these days. There are plenty of books that we can read that will contains a lot of this creatures. But on White Hot Kiss, I never knew how the words could overflow on my mind to create another world for this book. It is outrageously fantastic. Well actually, all of it.

White Hot Kiss splashes the idea of being with all these creatures with boundaries and limits and still living with them. It is not just about the eternal quarrel between angels and devils. It is how Jennifer spiced up things even more. The characters are so much engaging. Layla and Roth are remarkable.

Layla seems a bit to fragile for me from the start. Although she shows a never-ending bravery, I can feel how her loneliness and emptiness. It's very rare to read a character of the book and feel the same way exactly like the way they felt. But as I reach down until the end, I realized that its the confidence that drives her to continue in search of her true identity.

Roth is definitely entertaining to me. Yes. Entertaining. A badass hot guy will always be entertaining to me. And Jennifer L. Armentrout just made a man(devil) out of pure perfection. Everytime he enters a scene on the book (scene?), I feel like a high school girl waiting for a guy to look at me. That's exactly how Roth made an image to me. But its not just his hotness that I engulfed from the start. It's the way that this man can prove to himself his capabilities and weakness, still he looks up ahead on everything that comes out to interfere his ways. In short, the bravery of Roth is very hypnotizing.

Looking at the big picture of it, the storyline is definitely surprising. White Hot Kiss has so many secrets in store. And it never failed me to be amazed from all of it. This is the right book that you should read immediately. It's a combination of  bizaare sensations and surprising catastrophe with a sparkle of appealing passion. Take note, this is just the first book, what more when the second book comes out?

To celebrate its release, we are having a giveaway! If I were you, grab this chance to be with Roth. mehehehhe...
